It’s been a long time since I blogged, and I apologize for letting my readers down. I pastor a growing, yet small church, and I wear many hats. I also participate in meetings regarding education, government, and local affairs. God made me a pastor of a region; not just a church.
This week I was a part of a men’s gathering to stand up for the land. I was asked to be one of the speakers, and every man in the building was a solid, principled man of God. What I found in the overall approach concerned me. Perhaps it’s just me and the different way I approach things. Maybe though, you are seeing some of the same things.
There is a war raging for the soul of America.
It isn’t just for the soul of the individual alone; it’s for the soul of the nation, too. Perversion gets a month of celebration while military, Jesus, and mothers and fathers get recognized mere days in the year. Marriage, the rainbow, filthy books in schools, pedophile grooming of our children, the destruction of Christian morals and values in society, all of these are fronts being waged against us full-scale right now. The enemy thinks they can destroy the Jesus people and our way of life. They can punish the patriots and make them live as serfs in a liberal, evil world. That’s you and me, my friends. How do I know? I have been in the meetings, in the trenches for the past 12 months (while the blog has been silent). That’s what I have been doing, and I have witnessed the carnage firsthand. So what’s the problem? The problem…is us.
No matter what you think about America, you must recognize the season we are in today. Either we are at rest and peace, living idyllic lives, or we are engaged in war; not just a battle, but a series of protracted, win-or-lose battles that culminate with victory for the devil and evil or the advance of the Kingdom of Heaven. Where are we? What season are we in? What is our role right now? And what mindset must we adopt?
The men’s gathering this week was filled with solid, principled men. Most of the speakers challenged us to get involved, by engaging government, education, or other areas of society. They pressed us into action in some way, but there was a caveat. We must do it in the love of Jesus Christ, and represent His love to the world around us. Today that is a losing strategy on steroids, because it’s the wrong approach for the season we are in.
The church has forgotten how to wage war.
It sings "Onward, Christian Pacifists" instead. We no longer passionately hate evil. Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that there is a time to hate. (Has your pastor taught on that lately?) We are commanded to hate evil (Psalm 97:10). Romans 13 gives us the blueprint for model government. It is commanded to reward and protect those that do good, and also be the minister of wrath and vengeance upon those that do evil! Why is the church spending all of its time avoiding how to war against evil?
In the Old Testament book of Esther there was a man named Haman who carried a generational hatred of the Jews against his people. (He was the founder of ALM – Amelekite Lives Matter.) He managed to get a law inserted into the books that would destroy all of the Jews. It was up to Esther and Mordecai to change the king’s heart and the law, so that the Jews could destroy their enemies. Esther did not try to win Haman to God, nor did Mordecai. In fact, they did the opposite. They went to war against him, and they hanged Haman and his seven sons on his own gallows he had built to slaughter them!
We must not build on the corruption that exists in most of today’s society. Jeremiah 1:10 says, See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. We must not love the world or the things that are in the world; we must eradicate them so that we can have a sure foundation to build on once again. Sadly, the church today has elevated the preaching of salvation to iconic status, and has forgotten the gospel of the Kingdom, the establishment of the morals, values, laws and structures that bring glory to God in every area of society. This weak, conflict-avoidant, gentle church matters little to the world. They don’t even think it’s a threat. It’s time for that church to repent.
Stop talking about doing good!
The same Bible that talks about doing good is also charged with making a government that enacts wrath upon evil. It's time to embrace both sides of that command from God. Embrace the season; don't run from it any longer. We are in a season of war. Hate evil! We must hate evil with the same passion that we love.
Regardless of what you think could happen next with America, it’s time to armor up, understand the season, and prepare for war. If you do take a stand in a school board meeting it shouldn’t be in love, but in judgment. The reason America is failing is because the church refuses adopt a mindset of war. Let’s turn that around. Haman needs to be hung; not evangelized. It will get worse before it gets better, so learn how to stand up in conflict instead of running away. Onward! Christian soldiers! It’s time for war.
